A voice for everyone

We are not a political party — we are a movement of residents who want better.

Canberra Independent Network was founded during the 2025 Federal Election, when a group of community-minded citizens came together with a shared belief: our city deserves better representation. It wasn’t about party politics. It was about people — and putting our community at the heart of decision-making.

That belief turned into action when the group threw their support behind independent candidate Claire Miles. With a professional background in climate change and sustainability, she understands the urgency of environmental action and the opportunities it brings for Canberra. Her advocacy for at-risk girls and women, along with her push for equitable healthcare in the ACT, reflected the kind of representation many of us had been waiting for.

The 2025 campaign was entirely community-powered. Volunteers stepped up, donations came in, and conversations spread across suburbs. The result? A grassroots movement that earned 11% of the first preference vote — an incredible outcome for a first-time candidate with no party machine.

Now, we’re building on that momentum.

Are you ready to support an independent candidate in the next Federal election or for the ACT Legislative Assembly?
